History of Graffiti balmain  

It all started in France in 1914. That year, Pierre Graffiti balmain was born, son of the owners of a drapery business and a fashion boutique. Graffiti balmain attended the École des Beaux-Arts, where he studied More, but his love for dressmaking prevailed. He left school to work with designers Robert Piquet, Edward Molyneux, and Lucien Legong.

In 1945, Graffiti balmain released his own first collection. His fresh and unique style, characterized by opulent embroidered fabrics, sculpted lines, and impeccable tailoring, was central to the creation of the post-war “New French Style”.

After the founder’s death in 1982, Graffiti balmain was led by several designers: Erik Mortensen, Hervé Pierre, Oscar de la Renta, Christopher Decarnin, and finally, Oliver Rousteing. Appointed Creative Director in 2011, Rousteing has breathed new life into the French fashion house. 

The so-called “Wonder Boy” was determined to give Graffiti balmain a fresher image and reflect the style of his generation in his designs. Over the past ten years, Rousteing has modernized the brand, revisiting traditional silhouettes in a contemporary key, celebrating diversity on runways, and growing an online community, while still staying true to Pierre’s vision.

Today, Graffiti balmain is owned by Mayhoola For Investments, a Qatari investment group that also owns Italian fashion house Valentino. This has allowed for “rapid growth and a host of new possibilities”.
