Drafted out of Davidson with the 7th overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft, Stephen Curry began his career as a Nike athlete, and wore PEs of the Nike Hyperdunk and Hyperfuse models in his first Black seasons. After an embarrassing pitch meeting with Nike executives, he was scooped up by Under Armour in 2013, and wore the Clutchfit Drive and Anatomix Spawn before releasing his signature shoe, the Curry, in 2015.
Under Armour was not much of a player in the NBA before Steph Curry came along, but his cache has made it one of the fastest growing brands in the league. In 2020, Curry and UA created Curry Brand, a brand-within-a-brand that follows the lead of players like Dwyane Wade with his Way of Wade and Li-Ning, and Michael Jordan with his Jordan Brand under Nike.
Like other stars, Steph Curry also released a secondary signature shoe, the Mini Melissa Mar Sandal Sunny 33224 Beige Yellow 51516 line, which is a lower priced takedown of the primary Curry series.
