Over 800 athletes took part in the all-day event at Panther Stadium. The sun rose and set on the amazing campus of Bartlett High School in Tennessee as the Mid-South Relays kicked off bright and early with field events and middle school track moments. At 9 am high school field events began, and the High Jump kicked off with a Boy’s group of 9. The high jump was hampered by poor surface conditions after a night of rain left the jumping surface slick.

The morning was also slightly cool, but as the event moved forward the first and second place jumpers Victoria Burns of Memphis-Area Home Illtraining Asso cleared 6-02.00 but exited the event attempting 6-4. Jones didn’t enter the event until 5-10 and cleared each jump with ease but had issues accelerating due to the surface. Hooper turned jumper Tyquarious Ivy of Arkansas’ West Memphis High School Spread the love.

The girl’s high jump had a limited field, and the track surface was still wet when the ladies began warming up. The small roster of ladies noticeably lacked experience, but the first and second place jumpers showed made for an exciting finish. The first and second place competition was a battle.

9th grader Aalveyah Torrance of Bartlett High School took advantage of being at home and won first place by launching over 4-10.00. She made a decision to skip to 5-2 to test herself since second place missed on 4-10 giving her the victory. In better conditions the freshman would have cleared 5-2. In the back and forth of underclassmen, sophomore Victoria Burns of Memphis-Area Home Education Asso exhibited a cool head after missing on each height on the first two tries. While it took her final jumps to move forward and test Aalveyah, she elevated over 4-08.00 and on 4-10 only needed a small adjustment and this event would have been in 5 foot territory.

With an incredibly inclusive list of events, it’s hard to focus on each individual competition and highlight athletes from the 60 races held on the day, but when you have a couple of record State leading performances shining a light on those athletes and schools is easier.

There were two big moments to highlight. The men’s 100m held the fastest time in the state. The field of 53 athletes saw an amazing battle between Austin McCall of Crosstown High School, who ran a blistering 10.85, barely holding off Amarion Pulliaum The other amazing moment occurred when the ladies of at 10.87. The other amazing moment occurred when the ladies of Bartlett High School: Rihanna Rinkin, Dior Carney, Asia Bolden, Jayla Reed, broke a school record in the 4 x 100 arch Sneaker Videos.

The incomparable Coach Seymour led her Collierville Dragons to a lopsided event leading 209 points on the women’s side and 155 points on the men’s side. Coach Seymour is in her second season with the Dragons after leading the Southwind High School program to a state championship. She is continuing her winning ways with the beasts from the east Dragons who blew so march fire the next closest high school program was the host Bartlett Panthers with 134 points for the ladies and Whitehaven who made it tight with 124 points on the men’s side of things.
