It features tumbled leather construction, a perforated toe box for breathability, and gold lettering on the outer material.

The GV Special is also known for its ultra-thick sole, which provides additional cushioning and is one of the shoe's distinctive design features.

Originally launched in the 80s under the name PUMA California, the training silhouette was included in the PUMA catalogs as universal described, defined by its adaptability for indoor and outdoor use and its distinctive midsole.

The name of the shoe comes from the California construction method, which combines the upper material with the sole, and was later renamed GV Special in honor of Argentinean Grand Slam winner Guillermo Vilas.
