The VEJA volley was inspired by the Brazilian volleyball shoes of the 70s. In 2005, VEJA presented the volley at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris and directly sold 5,000 pairs.

The outer material and laces of the volley are made from 100% organic cotton, the outsole is made from 40% natural rubber from the Amazon region, and the shoes are made in Brazil.

The two VEJA founders, Sébastien Kopp and François-Ghislain Morillion, had no experience in the shoe industry.
They succeeded without investing in advertising by focusing on deconstruction and investing in a fair supply chain.
